Default Strange interior stuff

The drivers door opens with the key as does the ignition and trunk
cant use the key for the rear seat unlock or the "ski " unlock through the seats or the drivers door

Also the passenger door only locks and unlocks from the inside if I pull up[ the ****

I am assuming this might be a valet key (but its the only key I got with the car)

The valet key would be grey, and the valet key wouldn't work on the trunk (at least this is the way it works on the 6th generation). Does the key lock and unlock the glove box?

Go to the dealer and have a new key made, based off of your VIN. For the 6th generation the cost would be about $25 but that's a chipped key, I don't know if the 5th generation was chipped or not.

Also, key prices vary between dealers. Call any Honda dealers in driving range and ask for their key prices before going, so you aren't surprised and to make sure you are being given a fair price.

You probably already have, but did you check the child safety locks?

i cant unlock my rear seat either. my dad looked at the mechanism and thought something was broken in it. he fixed it somehow but idk what he did. you can also open it from inside the trunk if you want. on the top of the trunk there should be a little handle you can pull to release it.

For only 8 bucks, get the new key from the dealer.

If the new key works in your ignition and doors, but won't open your trunk access panel (for skis or 2x4's) or your glovebox you know it's not the key.

By any chance, do you have some Shin-Etzu grease? It's an industrial strength silicone grease used by Honda - what I do on my house locks is put a little bit on the end of the key, push it in and turn it in the lock. It's great stuff. Honda sells it, a toothpaste size tube of it is about $15.

Progress report.. had a key cut at Honda

Key works in drivers door, trunk release for back seat, back seat through piece and glove box

still a no go on the trunk lock on the floor and the drivers door will have to take them apart

When I bought my car, it only came with one key, and it was not an original. One suggestion to you guys out there that may only have one key is to have AAA come out and do a lockout service if you have that coverage. They cut another key and it worked on all the locks on the car, better than with the one that I got with the car because it would stick from time to time because it was so worn out. I accidentally locked my keys in the car, which is how I found out about this. No cost, and they came to me, granted my only key was in the car. I will say this, if the locks have been changed in any way, this might not work since they use the vin on your car to get the info needed to re-cut a new key. The AAA guy did disclose this to me prior to cutting a new key, luckily for me, the cut worked.
