Post B18c block help

Hey ht I just bought a conplete b18c gsr block with a chipped piston for a very good price ..even tho there isnt no visible damage im still taken it to a machine shop to get looked ovet.and to have the crank polished..

Which leads me to my question.. Does any one know a good diy or have some tips on removing crank , pistons , flywheel , water pipe the RIGHT WAY since this is my first time I much rather not guess aroumd .. Ive done vavletrain removals on bikes and if you break a bolt lose with to much pressure and there break sooo I dont want that but Iwill take the same caution

So can I please get some help

haynes manual.

use samwhich baggies for bolts and label them
use a big clean table and lay things out.

then jus start unbolting things.
start with the small engine accessories
then valve cover.
cam caps.
cams.
head.
put the block on a stand,.

flip it over.
take offthe oil pan.
take off th baffle and oil pickup.
take off the crank girdle
unbolt the rods 2 at a time. do 2. then rotate the crank and take the other 2 out.
.

jus fyi a machine shop will make stuff up and exagerate things to make money.....

I'm going to guess preignition. Definitely look close at the cylinder walls and the head...
Your crank won't need micropolished. Just get it bored to the next size after getting some new pistons and call it good.

And there should be little tubes on all 4 oil squirters. Someone messed two of them up. Either get new ones or if you use forged pistons, you can technically block them off.

I'm going to guess pre-ignition.
or valve slap. Are your valves bent or damaged? Have a machine shop check out the head, vacuum check the valves, and tolerance the head surface to see if it needs milling.

I'd be concerned that your squirters broke off and/or fell apart. They aren't cheap to replace from Honda either... I think just one ran me $40.

If this was caused by detonation you'll need to take a close look at the bearings when you pull the motor apart. If they are blued or scored then you'll need a new set. Have a machine shop measure and tell you what bearings to get, make sure you tell them what your plans are for the rebuild so they can select the correct tolerance.

You'll need more then a hone to fix the damage caused by the piston. Go .25 or .50 overbore.

lol guys just to make it clear again i just bought the block like it was no head or anything tranny ..

i took the crank , flywheel , water pipe ect ect .. and to tell you the truth the cyclinder felt better and looked better then i expected but well see what my machinist says , he should be given me a call tomrrow to let me kno if i realllly need the bore ... personally if i dont have to i wont im really on a budget but realiabilty comes first so if it comes down to it i will no problem !!

and about the squiters theres only two missing so i deffintly will be replacing those

these are my plans for the block

new water/oil pump
new bearings
arp rod studs
crank ploished
itr pistons on itr rods ( but if i have to get bored i will go .25 itr pistons on the gsr rods )
arp head bolts
resurfaced flywheel

i believe thats all i planned out so far

for the head ima go gsr but ill get it when the block is done , and i was thinking of sending it to cccylinders i seen acouple people on here go to them with results but any opinons ill take in too

1 - If you buy online you will see your options. If doesn't say it comes with wrist pins or rings then it doesn't. Don't assume anything.

2 - Anyone can do it if they want to put in the proper time and research. You may break a ring, you may screw up entirely, and cost yourself a bunch on money and grief. Isn't that always a risk? Ask yourself how much is the machinist going to charge for installation, and then ask yourself if it's worth it to you.

The only major up side to having a shop do the work is if something breaks you can take it back to them and say "WTF?"

Edit:
I have a set of new USDM ITR P73-A00 0.25mm over-sized with wrist pins and rings for sale if you want them.
