Reverse light stay on
So I have a 91 si civic and I just noticed tonight when my friend was driving my car that the reverse lights stay on while driving but from what I could tell when he would go into 4th gear that would shutoff but 1,2,3,5 they would stay on does anyone have an idea of why this would be happening the only thing that I have messed with the car is changing the head gasket but I don't think I messed up anything by the transmission so I'm thinking it's a short somewhere but no idea where to start thanks for the help
Your reverse light switch might've just gone out. If I'm not mistaken, 4th and reverse are on the same slide of the trans. I may be wrong. And I didn't know how to word that right.
Reverse is between 1 and 2. The switch is kind of on top the tranny near where the gear case meets the clutch housing (there should be some sort of drain tube next to it too). Remove it and see if the actual switch is stuck, it should look like a push button.
Reverse switch should have 2 wires going to it a yellow and a green IIRC disconect the wires and see if light goes out,if it does it is most likely the switch if the lights stay on then you probably have a short.
