Broke Off Valve Cover Bolt off.......need advice
Hey everybody.....
so i'm putting my valve cover back on my B20 and i'm tightening down all the nuts and i get to the LAST ONE......the one closest to the dizzy that also holds down that L shaped bracket thingy that holds the spark plug wires and it sheers off flush with the top of the plastic doughnut thingy that sits in between the nut and the valve cover.....
somebody please tell me that crankcase pressures are low enough that i can just live without that one completely. it's the one in the center on the very end. will the super grey i put on the brand new valve cover gasket be enough to hold it?
if not, does anybody have any good ideas on what i should do next...

Did the same thing you did before. I'm assuming you only busted off the top portion of the stud, and not all the way down in the head. Driving with that hole uncovered is going to make a mess of your engine bay. Put a decent size dab of hondabond or whatever silicone you have over the hole, wait a couple hours and go order yourself a new valve cover stud from Honda (guaranteed they won't have one in stock). You'll be fine without it for a while.
When the stud comes in, pull the valve cover off, get yourself a deep well socket, yank the old stud out. I think it's either a 10 or 12mm like everything else on that damn car. Put the new one in, and stop over tightening those VC nuts.

ummm...over tighten much? I did the same thing once on a b16 head. Pressure will not be low enough, you will get oil on the valvecover and underneath your hood. I know cause I drove the car to honda like that. Honda dealer sells them for $6-$8. Just go get one.
dont know what you mean? You pull the VC off, look at broken stud, grab your 12mm wrench/socket, pull it out, new one in,VC on, just over hand tight. You dont work on your own cars? Not that hard...i would consider replacing your clutch as something you dont wanna do lol.
