Default Level the playing fields

Mods can close or do what they like with this thread.

Thought it should be pointed out to all the handicapped internet racers. The fastest/quickest car doesn't always win their class. Prime example is Miller loosing at IFO this weekend to a 9.61 @ 158 car. With seven cars in the field. Another example. We went 9.21 in Texas a few weeks back on a few pounds less boost and no nitrous. We lost in the finals to a 10.5 car that usually goes 9.5.

In the end it isn't always about having the quickest/fastest most high budget car. So if you really have a car and intend on racing do it. Crying on Honda-Tech doesn't get you or this sport any where.

Have a good night.

And congrats to Miller on a great pass and Ricky on winning his class

Miller didn't lose to a 9.6 car, a 9.6 car won the race.

i say level the playing field by bringing cars out and just racing all these guys cry but 90% don't race. some don't even have a car to build so the don't support by buying parts etc.

Anyone can win at any given time you just have to be there to win. Some days its just your day.

If you really want to level the playing field, you need cars to show up, and make them go rounds.

i agree 100% that you need cars to show up. the big problem is that now that all of the outlaw cars have stepped down we don't have an entry level HEADS UP turbo class anymore. people can argue all day about whatever, but the fact is that the outlaw cars stepping down will hurt car count at events. in the past there has always been an entry level turbo class, and im sure thats what alot of people would like to see again. it would bring a lot more people out to race.

At one time I hoped I could build a car to compete in Heads Up racing. I quickly came to the reality that I will never have the time or be able to commit the amount of money that is needed to be competitive.

So to get my race fix, I've decided to bracket race at my local track. This accomplishes a couple of things:

- Allows me to run what I have.

- I learn my car and how to race.

- Supports the local track so it stays open.

We need you fast head up guys to keep going fast! That's what draws the spectators.

I will say this in closing. I lobbied hard for the Index classes, and there was alot of push back from you guys. I'm glad to see they are doing well and wish their continued success. Good luck guys.

Or Some One Just start handing out gear sets
Its progression guys! Our Sport Has progressed So far Our entry level Class Isnt Intake, headers and exhaust no more, Nor is it a greddy kit.
500-600 Hp Is your average build these days If u can afford the safty equipmet these days then your not an entry level racer any more, Like it or not Just find a class you fit into. Its racing anything can happen theres plenty of examples Like IFO yesterday, IFO Last Weekend THe 2 fastest cars didnt win there either a 10.20 Car won.
Parts do break and will when it comes to making power and racing. U dont build a car and except it to last for ever.

I agree 100% with what you say but at the same time that won't discourage me from finishing my car and racing.I do it because i like to race,If i win an event well that's just a plus for me.I can recall the funnest time for me being Friday nights coming home from work and meeting up with friends wth our street tire turbo cars at the track to see who's car was faster that night.there were no trophies and no payouts.we did it because we had heart and loved the sport and that's why I will continue to do it.

I almost didn't click on this thread because I'm so tired of hearing about needing to do this or that to fix this or that with this class, etc.....

Great post and great thread! Congrats to Ricky on the win! Congrats to Miller on a great pass and congrats to everyone else who came out to race and made it a race, I hope those guys stay at it and realize their hard work WILL have its day and that day or pass is well worth it!

you are right. i gues for now grudge night at the track is where guys like me and many others will have to race. i am sure i'm not the only guy that built a car over that past 3 years and made about 700-800hp. when i set out to build the car that was enough to be competitive, lol but things change. now that the lowest heads up turbo class has guys making over 1100hp. i'm too fast for index classes so...... test and tune is where i'll get my racing fix. and i'm sure i'm not the only one. good news is that should be fun too. i'll keep saving money, and maybe one day i'll have the budget to keep up

I know of many people that have 7-800hp cars that are still out there slugging it out in sfwd. You dont NEED 1100hp to go fast. Cort went 9.30s 4 years ago in the so called "entry level" class. If you dont have the budget to do it, then thats another story. I dont see how it costs less to race at an event then it does going to a test and tune. Hell sometimes its cheaper for me to go to an event then a test and tune night lol.

I guess some just have a stronger will to compete then others.

Some of you guys missed the point of my post, biggest props of the event went to the guy who showed up with a 11sec 62mm SOHC car knowing he had to race faster cars being in that class. He lined up with Miller in the semi's, the tree came down and he was the first to finish line. On any given Sunday anything can happen if you put yourself in the race. Big props to him, he showed up, lined up with faster cars and let the chips fall where they may.

Yep. And he went there just racing for fun. Didn't even realize there was a payout for his r/u finish, ended up leaving with $500. IFO price to compete is only $25, the same as TNT at some tracks across the country.

I dont know where you have been but I've been around the seen for well over 15 years and there was NEVER an entry level class.

PS. I made an honest 690whp on the dyno last month. The most that I have EVER made with this car is 724whp before fall nats 2010 and thats NO LIE.

Thanks for posting these numbers ricky, I've made probably 50 passes or more at 7 events in the past 2 years on my little 60-1 500hp car and seen you race on the track and the street, you've given me a reason to get a 67mm turbo and upgrade my fuel system.
