WRITE UP: How to install a Quaife steering rack & pinion
My son and I just finished rebuilding an 88 CRX-DX steering rack with a Quaife quick ratio rack and pinion.
We did a writeup on how we did it and posted it here: http://accutach.com/Documents/QuaifeRackUpgrade.pdf

Where did you buy it from, and how much was it?
Just a quick piece of info on the rack, quaife is 2.83 turns lock to lock, stock is just over 4!

Anybody have any idea where I can get an OEM pinion bearing?
Honda is telling me it's been discontinued by them.
edit: finally got a response from Quaife. The bearing part number is NTN bearing number 6202LLBC3/L627 .

Weird, I just bought one from the dealer a few weeks ago. Did you try Acura too? Part number I bought was 96100-62020-10 for $7.55.
OEM Acura Parts says it's still available: BEARING (6202) | Genuine Acura | 96100-62020-10

Acura's had manual steering racks? I thought they were all power. Looks like the same part number.
Shows it's still available at the Honda dealers too: 96100-62020-10 - Genuine Honda Bearing, Radial Ball (6202)
Perhaps the dealer you tried to go through was BS'ing you cause they couldn't find the part within the system. If I remember correctly, it's very difficult to find in the parts directory. It only shows up via a very specific model/trim CRX even though it fits all of them (I put one in my EG rack). If that's the case, I bet if you called back with this exact part number you might hear a different story.

you can get a 6202 bearing all day long from any supplier. its a generic code for the bearing. its not special to honda.
but i thought it was the bearing seal that was the hard part to find, and impossible to not destroy when removing the pinion.
