Default aftermarket water gauge wiring

i have bought a water temp gauge but have some problems regarding the wiring.
the gauge has 4 wires which are comming out:
yellow: that is a 12v
purple & orange : connect to headlamps or other 12volts
and black : ground.
till here all is fine, now this is were i got stuck.
on the back of the gauge there are 3 sort of bolts .
1 is ground
and there is one +
and another one S.
i also have a sender unit sensor which has 2 wires, 1 black and one white. now i suppose that one of them needs to connect to the S terminal on the gauge, but what about the other wire?

The "S" is for the sender unit. Ground the unit with the rest of the gauge wiring.

the sender unit has 2 wires, 1 black and one white,
should i run the white to the S and the black to ground.
so the sensor itself dosent need any 12volts?
