94' Civic EX - Alternator fit problem
Hi,
This is my first time here. I've removed my alternator yesterday and picked up a replacement from AutoZone. For some reason the space between the mounting flanges on the new alternator is different due to a bushing that has been pressed in from the inside before assembly. I took it back to AutoZone and they said it is the correct alternator for my car and that I could either file off the bushing to that protrudes about .06" or drive it back with a hammer so that it will fit in the gap on the engine blocks mouting bracket that is at the bottom of the alternator. Just wonder if anyone has run into this and how they made it fit before I start filing or hammering on this thing.
Regards,
Steve

Yep, I ended up tapping it down with a hammer. Put larger diameter washer over it so as not to damage anything and make it be completely flat. Worked like a charm. Didn't want to take the alternator back because it had a lifetime warranty from AutoZone.
