CA FS: Turbo D16Y8 EK hatch!
Well, after 15 years in "the game" its time for a change. With that said, I am offering my 96 EK hatch for sale. Here is a list of the details.
96 DX hatch. Chassis mileage is a GUESS at 180,000 miles. Its had so many different clusters in it, I lost count. It has a built D16Y8 engine with a custom t3/t4 turbo setup. The front fenders, doors, hood and bumper are ALL off a 99 SI and have the vin stickers in tact. With that said, the front of the car is painted Flamenco Black Pearl, the rear section is Granada Black Pearl. Its not an exact match, but pretty close until you get it in some good sun. The paint is obviously a few years old and thus its not 100% perfect. Im not going to lie, it could certainly use a paint job after 15 years! It still cleans up nicely and looks awesome at night. I did keep it polished and washed regularly even though it wasn't in the best of shape.
Car sits on POWDERCOATED, not painted, 99-00 Si rims. Rims are bright white and the finish is very durable. There are one or two very very small chips. Almost impossible to see until you get about a foot away. Rims are completely finished, not just powdercoated on the outside.
Car has 99 SI front disc brakes and 94 Integra rear disc brakes along with the 15/16ths master cylinder and 40/40 proportioning valve. Clutch master cylinder was recently replaced with a brand new unit. Rear trailing arms have Energy suspension bushings. Front brake pads are $50 ceramics, rears I don't recall. Approx 50% brake pad life still left, so no worries. Stops VERY well.
Interior the car has front and rear Integra seats. The rears do have the gap at the bottom, the rest fits just like OEM. Cargo tray for the hatch is still there and in tact as well. Has upper front and rear strut tower bars and a lower rear tie bar. 99 SI cluster with approx 35,000 miles on it. MOST of the A/C system is still in the car, but the key components have been removed for the turbo. Before removal, it all worked fine. I will include everything for the A/C system in the sale of the vehicle. Head liner is good, carpet is good, has Integra floor mats. Door panels were recovered to look like CTR panels. Car has power windows, locks, mirrors and Honda OEM keyless entry. The keyless came from a 00 EX, so there is no need to retain the factory radio. The interior harness is from the same 00 EX and was modified to work with the rear hatch wiper. All wiring modifications were done using OEM wiring and connectors. Has some cheap 6x9's in the rear, and some Infinity components in the doors. Sounds good for a 96 Civic. lol
Engine wise this is where most of the money is. Block is a 00 EX bored to 75.25mm. Pistons are SRP with Eagle rods. ACL race bearings on rods/mains/thrust. Rings were file fit to spec (specs available on request) and bearings were all plastigauged prior to final assembly. Block was cleaned and bored by Dels machine shop in Sacramento. They do the majority of the areas work for dealerships. PTW was set to .0035" and I personally verified this prior to assembly of the block. Block is painted high temp VHT aluminum, looks great. All new gaskets, water pump, timing belts, etc from Honda. I am not 100% sure of the mileage on the head. I disassembled it and cleaned EVERYTHING inside and reassembled it. It does have some leakage past the exhaust valves on cylinders 1,2 and 3. Its not terrible, the car runs like a raped ape even with this in mind. I will include another head with a recent valvejob in the sale of the vehicle. ARP head studs, OEM gaskets on top. Stock valves and all that. I painted the valvecover VHT red wrinkle. Looks very nice. Intake manifold is a stock D16Y8 manifold that has been port matched to the LS (60mm) throttle body. Spark plug wires are NGK blues, the picture is an older one and doesn't reflect this.
Transmission is a stock 96 EX unit. I replaced the input shaft bearing and input shaft seal. Other then that, its just as I got it. I did inspect the collars, sleeves, synchros and forks when it was apart. It doesn't grind into any gears and has given me 0 issues.
Turbo is a genuine Garrett T3/T4 57 trim. I bought it brand new, sealed in the box. Manifold is a Spoolin Performance SS log manifold. 38mm Genuine TIAL wastegate with 7lb spring. Custom dumptube, 3" modified ebay SS downpipe to full 3" ebay SS exhaust. Exhaust sounds pretty damn good if I say so for an ebay unit. Comes with silencer too. 550cc injectors, Go autoworks oil supply/drain line with WELDED return fitting on the oil pan. Go autoworkes charge pipes with T bolt clamps and HKS SSQ black BOV. Edelbrock front mount intercooler. No knock off parts here, all genuine items. Car is street tuned on ectune and has run 12psi. The boost control solenoid isn't mine, I can't let that go in the sale. The rest can. Runs VERY strong but traction, obviously, is a big issue from lower speeds. Using a P28 with the auto lockup control PWM circuit to control boost. Its a very slick system and works just as well, if not better, then ANY electronic boost controller on the market. Can do boost by gear/RPM as well. I will include my copy of the Ectune software in the sale of the car.
I would like to sell the car AS IT SITS right now. Im not too interested in parting things out at this time. This car is complete, get in, start it up and drive no worries wherever. Just took a 200 mile trip and got 31mpg from it. Its a great all around setup, but it does need some finishing IMO. I would have it tuned professionally to get more power out of it and also invest in traction bars. FWD + turbo = traction issues. The majority of the work is done here and all the big ticket items are already bought. Burns NO oil at all. Uses NO water. Runs great. I just don't have the money and time, or desire anymore, to finish things and make this car what it should be.
That said, Im looking to get $5,500 for the car as it sits. Title is CLEAN. Keep in mind this will include my Moates romulator, current tune, datalogging interface, and my copy of ectune as well. This is EVERYTHING you need for an easy 350+whp. Obviously this car will not smog in its current shape. I just smogged it for registration but no longer have the stock cat that I used. I will include the stock manifold for smog as well as a spare head with a recent valvejob and two spare Z6 transmissions with the sale of the car. I am located in the Sacramento area. Please, no tire kickers. If you have money (CASH) and are ready to deal, great. I dont have time for window shopping though.
