Default Best swap choice for a broke student....

Like the title implies I'm a broke student getting a summer job and I am wondering what would be the best swap for my budget, I got around 1500 saved up at the moment and i plan to have around 5 grand by the end of summer. So I'm wondering what would be the best choice for a daily driver but still good and fast street car?

What's wrong with your current engine? What car is this about?

I'd suggest you keep that $1500 as an emergency fund of sort and do the swap in a few years. This will also give you plenty of time to think about which swap you really would like and perhaps even allow you to get a daily driver so this could be your strictly "fun" car.

Oh, and modified Hondas suck for driving to college. They get broken into and they get ran into.

Best of both worlds: USDM b18c1 or JDM b18c GSR or SIR-G motor. About $2500-3,000 complete legit swap if you do it yourself

The car will almost definitely get f***ed with. Sorry, but this is the truth. Good places to get a car stolen are mall parking lots and college parking lots. Cars sit there for hours unattended.

I told my friend this and he took the risk anyway. He got very lucky. The first night the car was there it only had the radio stolen out of it. In the next week it also got hit on the front end, but didn't get damaged too badly.

Then it came back home and I watched after it until he found a good place to put the car while
he's at school.

Sure, it could get stolen from anywhere, but you'll be parking this car in a high theft type situation. Just as certain situations could raise your chance of being shot or stabbed.

Trust me, I understand what you mean by wanting to upgrade... But right now you (1) don't know what you want and (2) will be scraping cash together to make it work. As someone else mentioned, it almost never all goes according to plan. Other things will almost definitely come up which will cost more money.

As far as knowing what it's like to want to upgrade, I've owned my Civic for over eight years. I removed the D16Y8 that was in it and still ran great and swapped in another engine. I still have that Y8 sitting in my garage in front of the car even.

If you are a broke student I wouldn't worry about a swap right now. Save your funds and do it right.

Just my opinion.

lots and lots of honda's will get messed w/ anywhere. If you can handle retards trying to get in but cant take the car than thats cool(<---thats what I deal w/) If you make it so they cant take it than thats more like it. Dont let the fact of where your car will be parked make you miss out on enjoying your honda and your swap. I have had a single ej6 sedan stolen and recovered twice & a couple other honda's I have owned that were swapped were consistantely 'attempted stolen cars' Make it such a pain in the *** to get the car they give up and move onto a easier target.

as a fellow broke college student lol...DON'T DO IT! unless you like being even more broke and on a TIGHT budget.. until you have the proper funds and time(summer i guess if you want to do it) and if you really are getting 5g's by end of summer then i suggest go for a b18c1 swap, or just want a little more power and tq. get an LS motor. i'd suggest have a backup 500-700 for anything else you might need for emergency.
