Default 4th gen ignition

I was wondering what kind of ignition setup you guys are running in your 4th gens. I'm pretty sure ignition is going to be my next step, and was looking at that MSD SCI for my car. since the EX's came with that stock 4-2-1 exhaust manifold I'm pushing the DC sports header back a step after the ignition. Internals are almost stock..I have intake and exhaust. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see any reason to skip the header in favor of ignition. First header. then even pulleys before ignition.... or if you could move onto suspension (but I assume you were just looking for power suggestions).

Well I do have suspension mods too, Koni adjustables and neuspeed springs, and a strut tower bar, so yah was mainly concentrating under the hood.

My reasoning for the ignition over the header was that I figured the ignition would have been more bang for the buck per se. I know that the DX-LX Accords had a 4-1 exhaust manifold and the EX had the 4-2-1, which I figured accounted for the +5hp between the models, therefore the replacement DC header wouldn't have been as effective as if I replaced the ignition. If the aftermarket header is still a better buy over the ignition at this stage then I'll just go for that. I'm using a F22a4 with pretty high mileage, so I dont want to do much internal, because I'd be saving up for a H22a. I've been out of the performance scene for about 3-4 years now, and have had those same mods on my car since then, but I've always felt the performance urge, and now that my finances are getting better I can get back into it. I appreciate your input, I wouldn't have considered pulleys that crucial of a mod, I'll look into that too though. Thanks!

hi i dont think you need a complete ignition system yet. just use a 93 accord dist cap and rotor and do an msd external coil conversion.

well if you are saving for a H22 then I wouldn't do either one... you can't use either one on the H22.

save your loot. get the Htwotwo and mod that. if you want to swap stop wasting your time and money on the F.

I run an oooold original Crane HI-6 and one of the original fireball coil... I did this when i throw nitrous on the car.

It got slightly better milage with the ignition ... other than the obvious help with timing retard (via the dial when i spray) it probobly gave me no performance gain.

My advice is buy Crane or Mallory ignition components... I had MSD on my Mustang and went though 3 6AL's. They replaced them very happily, but thats annoying to say the least. This Crane combo has been faithful for 5 years almost now.

Anyway... good luck.
