Default 23t bracket question

I know the 23t brackets need to be sent out to a machine shop to mill 1/8" where the bracket mates to the knuckle and it need to be exactly that for even pad wear but is there any issues by grinding the other side of the bracket? the one that's closer to the disc? i mean i dont see any negative effect by doing that , us just making some space so that the rotor can spin or am i missing something?

If you center it you will not need more space.

When you mill the mating surface of the bracket to the knuckle about 1/8, then you will have centered the caliper over the rotor and will have enough clearance.

Yes i know it has to be milled on the outside , but im asking is ,if there's any issues on grinding the inside of the bracket the part that DOES NOT mate with the knuckle.

Don't know of an issue, not necessary.

I am not sure what you are trying to do. There are several threads on this in HT and on the TI forums. Once you mill off about 1/8" or 3mm the caliper will be centered over the rotor and clear, so no need to mill the inside. I run NSX calipers with 28mm thick rotors and clear, no problem. You can take off of other areas, but not needed, as the mating surface determines the spacing. Yes, you can open the inside some if you wish. They have been mounted other ways using spacers to offset the rotors to center under the caliper leaving the caliper unmilled, and by opening the inside.

i have a pair of ITR caliper and prelude vtec rotors redrilled to 4x100 , thats why i was asking if i could take of material from the inside of the bracket instead of sending them out to a machine shop to get them milled.

is the "spacer" or "washer trick" safe ?

Trouble with spacers is that lug studs may be too short, or course you could replace. Also you are spacing the wheels out slightly farther and that can be harder on bearings and could cause tire to fender rub. All of this is discussed on old threads. Not sure why you do not want to mill the brackets, but I believe that Fastbrakes sells milled brackets.
