BigBlock22's Daily Driver Build
So I decided to make a thread about my current build. This whole thing started over a bad oil pump and I kind of got carried away. Originally I wanted to just replace the oil pump, water pump, timing belt and head gasket but one thing led to another. Thousands of dollars later I am finally starting to wrap this build up. Here are the specs:
-BLOCK-
H22- Bored to 89mm, stock stroke,
Wiseco pistons 11.5:1
Eagle rods/ARP rod bolts
ACL (race bearings)
Kaizen Speed balance shaft eliminator kit
F20B EURO R PULLEY
balanced rotating assembly and micro polished crank
-HEAD-
Skunk2 pro1 cams and pro cam gears
Skunk2 valve train (valves, retainers and pro series springs)
RBC intake manifold (heat shield intake manifold gaskets)
68-70MM tapered TB
ROSKO Racing fuel rail
RDX injectors
Hytech replica header
The head is actually being worked on right now by Valley Engine of Fountain Valley, CA. They also did all the block work. I heard nothing but great things about these guys. Rick the owner, says he gets between 25 and 30 honda engines a month. The engine will be tuned via Neptune RTP... still have to get a base map though. Please don't mind the pics, they are taken from my cell phone. I'll try to keep this thread updated as the progress continues.

PATIENCE haha is very important. Also the second is doing things right when it comes to building, assy, all of it do it Right the 1st time and enjoy it

Cool man,ive tried to get that pulley from them but they dont reply to mail,is there any way you can give me the part number from your box? please bud,I am stuck coz nobody in South Africa has this pulley,ill be watching your build for sure,thank you.
Luckily a buddy of mine has a press, I was able to get this oil pump taken care of yesterday. Still waiting on the head, could be another week before I get it back. I'll have more updates in the mean time.
Okay, so here's an update... I have been waiting to get the head back, still have to pick it up but when I talked to my machinist over the phone he went over everything they did to the head. He mentioned that he had the head ported and polished and I was like, "what?" So I explained to him that there was some misunderstanding and I never asked for that service. Just the parts installed with new valve seals and the head milled if needed. Long story short I got a free port and polish job that he would charged an additional $500 for. Not my fault though. So in the mean time here are some pics of what I have been up to.
Rosko Racing fuel rail arrived ( awesome piece of work, Shawn threw in some fittings that I didn't even know I was paying for) very cool guy, big thumbs up to Shawn

also got these lil guys in and put together (part #'s-toyota housing connector- 90980-11875 and Honda pig tail kit - 04320-SP0-E00)

some block prep, only half of it is done and I used Duplicolor engine enamel

also got some honda inventory done, found out im missing some cam seals

and a close up of all the stuff I organized and labeled (learned the hard way that h22a and h22a4 have different crank bolts) shieeeeeet

should be picking the head up next week (if my schedule allows me so) I will have plenty of work cut out for myself. next week could be another update with more detailed work involved, stay tuned

Thanks man, yeah, I'm big on organizing. I hate losing ****. Its good to see more folks going the H/F-series route. You gonna do a build thread on the h2b setup?

hey man, its dave from your girls work. build looks sick! plan on chirping into 4th? lol. no build yet on my 240. im still sourcing a decent ls1/ls2 that isnt located in the midwest and isnt 7k+ keep up the good work! progress looks exciting!
that 240 project will be a badass car once its finished. we'll have to hit the track sometime when you get that car done. thanks for the feedback and compliments
i love that your using the RBC manifold thats what i am working on also... let me know how it all works out! im also going with the delta 272 regrind and upgraded springs and retainers.

yeah i heard about the manifold through someone else. although nothing on my setup will be stock. i spent about 50+ hours port and polishing the intake manifold. plus the head has some port and polish work on it. i really cant wait to see how the manifold performs. hope to have a dyno vid or sheet up soon about a month or so

update: so the head is back as you can see and the work does not look too shabby. I am thankful they did not remove much material from the ports, so I can still port match my adapter plate and manifold accordingly. Here's some shots of the head

Its just too bad that the heads natural color does not match the new paint so I will sadly have to paint this nice clean head.

In the mean time I am going to finish up the back of the block. In case you guys are wondering why I'm not using my engine stand... I'm doing the painting at my apartment since my parents house where all my tools are is much too windy (they live closer to the coast) at the moment so the valley I live in provides the most suitable environment for the painting.
