Default CEL on start up occasionally

I just got this car, and sometimes it starts and chugs a little bit and the CEL comes on until I turn the car off and back on.

Stays off with a normal start up, comes on with it starts and chugs.

Also when I get gas and unscrew the gas cap there is a lot of pressure in the tank. Let's out that whoosh of pressure. Does this mean my EVAP system is not working?

Jump the blue connector at the glove box and find out what the code is. That will direct you to what the problem may be.

There is supposed to be pressure.

Problem with trouble shooting the code is, it's not always on. Only when it has a rough start. That's usually only after it has set for a long while.

Also I was under the impression that if there is excessive pressure in the gas tank, the evap control valve may be busted?

PULL THE CODE!!!! The Trouble Code will tell you what circuit the computer saw a problem with. I'm betting it's a low-idle code.

So here is a update. Problem has progressed into making the car not start sometimes. Will act like it's about to fire up and just immediately puffs out.

Okay finally got codes.

22 VTEC pressure valve
And
9 CYP - cylinder sensor

Are these legit? Could they cause my problem?

Where can I get a new vtec pressure valve? Mine is all rusted up and the plugs is all beat up.

Distributors hard to install?

Starting-a bad crank sensor, yes. Installing a dist, not hard as long as you make sure to mark everything...dist to head and where rotor is pointing.

Pressure switch-dealer.
