--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 90 HF 1.5 8 valve... Ive been wanting to add real mods so it can run a little more.. so far I just have a cold air intake and full exhaust system icluding headers... just wondering if theres any suggestions on what else I could add... (some cheap/effective mod's??) :/

best thing to do would be swap it out and put a b series motor in there that would be your best bet because its only 8 vavle

You could buy an ebay SOHC turbo kit, cheap and fast.

Or upgrade things like pistons or a camshaft with higher compression/lift.

mini-me's are good for just little hp gains. i would get a y8 head and head gasket if your doing a mini-me. you will need an si ecu and dizzy if you want to stay obd0 then just chip and tune it with turboedit or megasquart.

good lord there is a lot of crap half-assed info in here. Don't waste your time or money upgrading anything internally on that engine, you will never make dick squat worth of power out of it. Also, i wouldn't bother trying to boost it, it would not respond well to that. Since you're just getting started i would not swap engines just yet. I would start with something a little less complicated like a mini-me. google search mini-me swap and you will find lots of info. the basics include a z6,y8, or d15b head, obd0 to obd1 ecu jumper, and a p28 ecu. If you have any specific questions concering the swap, just ask. Also,

ME: I'd leave it stock, **** I'd kill for a stock HF right now.

YOU: Spend it on suspension/brakes. You'll at least not kill yourself or someone else later on. Egay boost won't do **** by the way, as will the turbo just explode in your face 50% of the time with ebay trash.

Like others have stated...Suspension, bushings, brakes, seals, tune up. Enjoy the mileage!

I don't think an mini-me will work with an HF block, if i remember correctly the pistons were made for a head with 8 valves, not 16.

Yep. Here's a picture of my d15b6. As you can see there's clearance for only 2 valves on each piston.

correct, minime will not work on an HF. I have an HF and im swapping it out only because i want the motor/trans for an EF civic hatch(need the seats) and the CRX is just going to be a fun car. I have a b18b sleeved block with forged pistons and a b16 cable trans = fun) My best advice would be to just find a crx SI trans. Sure its not going to have more power, but it will make a huge difference in the fun factor of the car. And then later on you can swap to a d16 or sohc vtec motor. The HF tranny is also worth a good bit, ive been offered 3-400 several times for mine even with 200k on it. Its a rare item

id upgrade to at least a d16a6 since that at least broke 100hp and theyre hella cheap. if you want something particlarily nice get a z6 or y8 engine with a si cable tranny
