I understand if you lower a coilover by 1" it often translates into more than 1" on the car. So I don't understand why the Ride Height number is a fixed number.
I'm going to assume the Ride Height is just used as some sort of reference. The Ride Height Adjust Range is more important when looking at their coilovers.
For example the Basics for '92-95 Civics are listed:
Ride Height:
2.3" Front
1.6" Rear
Ride Height Adjust Range:
1" to 2.9" Front
0.4" to 2.1" Rear
You wouldn't really want to set your ride height at 2.3" Front and 1.6" Rear, that would have quite a bit of rake to it and might look goofy..
