Default Want to drop my 17's for 16's... need advice.

I have 17 inch wheels on my 92 civic Si. I have neglected my little sweet thing through the winter... but now its time to freshen her up a bit.
So I'd like to go to 16's but not sure which way to go.
A used wheel?
A new wheel and tire combo?
I'm going to need coilovers also, mine are shot (stock shocks with after market crappy coilovers).
I was thinking about Enkie Rpf's (even though people say they are played) At some point I'll be doing track days. Of course money is an issue, I want something that works, and don't want to pay extra for name with similar characteristics that works the same as a less blingy wheel.
I like Nitto Neo Gens and would go in that direction unless I was given a better suggestion.
So lets recap the needs.
1. Coilovers
2. Wheels
3. Tires
Any help, or advice is appreciated.

What about 15s. There are better tire choices in that size. There are decent ones is 16, too but I think more so in 15. RPF1 are great for the money. Its probably one of the lightest wheels for not too much money. The 15s are 9.9 lbs I think. Suspension up to you. I like Koni/GC.

Your budget is going to determine what we can recommend for you.

I have 16" Volk CE28N's on 205/45/16 Nitto Neogens and I'm very happy with the size and the tire is phenomenal for the money. Very sticky for an all season and it looks cool

Don't pay attention to the tear in the bumper. I've since gotten a new bumper that came with a CTR lip:

And the fiance is in Los Angeles with the good camera.

I'm not opposed to a 15 inch wheel. But I don't like when civics look like toy cars and are dumped on small wheels. I just won't dump mine.
As far as price. I'll take all the ideas I can, i'm open.

I'm with you on the 15s. I think 16s are about the lowest I would go with. Not too sure about tire choices lately. I've run with Nitto, Nankang, Kuhmo, Toyo, etc over the years. I would research some performance/customer reviews. I would go with a Ground Control/Koni combo or Progress CS II setup for lowering.

lol you have a fifth gen, 15s are just fine, i rock 15s and all i get are compliments. 16s look good to, 17s and up are way to big imo until you get to like 04+ civics.

coilovers, id say function and form type 1s they are inexpensive, ride good and are stiff enough for some fun. As for the rims, it depends on ur cash flow. If ur ballen get legit rims like bbs, spoon, sprint hearts, og ext, next lvl down is rotas and drags, then used aftermarket/used oem. Oem is perfectly fine, grs blades, ls webs, and si's look sick on egs, but they are all 15s if im not mistaken.

if you go w/ new id search for a rim/tire combo to save some cash.

I wouldn't go lower than a 16 either! I use 15" steels for the winter time and it makes my car look like it's rolling on doughnuts! Bigger is better, but not ridiculously big! Stay in the area of 16-18's! and 18's are pushing it! I run 17" ADR DV-8's in the summer...

17's on an eg are redongulous.. 18s? no way in hell, you would need to lift the car to make em fit..

Indeed, 17's are passable if you've got a moderate drop track car with GIANT brakes that warrant having 16"+ wheels.

18's? Now you've got a wheel that's as large or larger than the stock wheel and tire together. You're just asking for problems.

17's arent bad... you have less tire choices, and the cost of tires go up.
I'm not against 15's, but if they give my car that toy look, I'll pass.
At this point I'm leaning towards the Function/GC.
I like the way the Sprint Hart wheels look, but I don't want a white rim on my black Hatch, so it kind of narrows the availability down.
