Fuel pumps keep going out.
Ok guys first off its 1990 CR-X, LS swap. This is the second fuel pump that been in it. Ive been in iraq the past year and replaced the pump on leave, i get a call from my father yesterday becus i fly home tomorrow and he said he couldnt get it started.
Here is the odd thing, when i replaced the pump on leave, once it was hooked up and i dropped it into the tank to seal it back up, it started pushing fuel through the lines and spraying fuel out as if the pump was receiving power. The key was not in the vehicle, so i asked around and was told it could possible be a bad ecu or the relay could be stuck open.
I will only be home for 9 days and i really need to get this problem fixed. Ill be doing the pump again and replacing the fuel filter. Ive decided to install a killswitch as well until i get the car back to colorado. I apologize if im jumping around with the info, i just need some help if anyone has come across the same issue. Thanks in advance guys. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds to me like the pump is receiving constant power and thus burning it out. I would do some investigation on the wiring.
Also thank you for serving in the military, I appreciate all you guys do.

Get a voltmeter and measure for voltage at the pins in the FP connector before plugging in the replacement pump. A decent voltmeter can be bought from Radioshack for under $30.
Gonna post what wire colors when I get home unless somebody else knows.
***edit*** Kill Switch instructions too
Black lead of the meter to ground or bare metal surface on the chassis and Red lead to the YELLOW / BLACK wire
