Default engine question

tell me if this is true

a mechanic friend told me that when the engine gets old like my ep3(122k miles)
its recommend that i use 10w-40(synthetic) instead of my regular oil which is 5w-30(synthetic) cause the pistons will slip??

better fill your blinker fluid as well... But seriously if you are burning some oil or turbo it might be best to switch to the 10w40

its normal to burn a quart of oil between oil changes... but if you are burning more then yes upping to a thicker oil will help. It also depends on your driving habits also...

I use Motul 5w40 for many reason but also cause I push it a little hard sometimes lol... since I barely burn anything and the car runs very smooth.
