Not Sure if this is appearance
JDM leaf? Are you referring to the driver badges that are sometimes seen in Japanese automotive culture?
Beginner driver "wakaba" badge:

In Japan, any driver who obtains drivers license within 1 year must show this badge/emblem on their vehicles. It's called "Shosinn-sha-emblem" in Japanese. Shosinn-sha means " Beginner or Starter" Another driver must give their ways even on the busy traffic.
Elder/advance driver "kareha" badge:

This is an emblem for a driver with more experience in Japan and called a "Silver Mark". The driver must give their way to the vehicle on the road with this emblem by the traffic law.
This one is for injured drivers:

As for my opinion on them...
Well, they're definitely a "badge" to me. But not one I'd ever be proud of having. It's kind of like a "mark of shame" where one would have it placed upon one's self if they did something wrong or stupid. But they do help me spot cars where the owner hasn't done much research on their meaning or is simply interested in 'fad' items.

Each badge has a specific area of the car they belong on when they are issued in Japan...most people put them on their window which is not where the should be.
its kind of more a novice fad here in the states.

They were cool like five years ago when only your friends or relatives brought them down for you. Now they're in the mainstream and easily obtainable, therefore making them played out. I want a name change.
