Code 20 need some suggestions ?
So I just had recently bought this 4dr ef was Doin some general maintainance to it , car came with these stupid wing nut terminals on it witch are all bad for efs cause the hoods sit low so my luck I go to shut the hood more on the left side of the car so the hood slanted nose down an shut onto the posetive terminal on the battery with the engine running an it shut it self off .I can't figure out what's the cause of it not turning back on iv replaced PCM , both fuse panels an ignition switch all relays an fuses an still have no power to my chassis except to the PCM witch is still flashing code 20# an in the dash iv got power to my cluster but everything else dead ! I don't understand what else to do an help!
a code 20 is the electric load detector. It is in the fuse box on the passenger shock tower. The only way to fix it, if it really is the ELD, is to replace that box, which is tricky because you have to have the same trim and year of car to swap from to replace it.
If you are feeling dangerous, you can also bypass it. There is a diagram around H-T somewhere that shows how to "safely" bypass it.
The final option would be to run a chipped ECU that ignores the ELD, though I have only seen OBD1+ software that allows you to turn off the ELD.
