Default ported & polished and intake manifolds question

ok, this may sound like a stupid question im sure... ive read up in magazines where people go and have there intake manifolds ported and polished for better airflow, ect.. but then i see skunk2 and STR intake manifolds... are those the same thing? just ported and polished intake manifolds with their names on it??

also does it make a big difference when doing so, like adding one . would it make a difference on a car with I/H/E ?

thanks-
confused.

correct me anyone if i am wrong....the manifold will not help you on a car with just I/H/E...it would offer you better gains on a car with some more aggressive cams and some higher compression...but with just some bolt ons it wont really help you in fact i have heard of losses in the low end...

The skunk2 manifold is basically a refined ITR manifold. Single runner design, unlike the dual runner GSR manifold. It does add a few ponies to a GSR above 5k rpm even with just I/H/E, but since it is only a single runner design, it does give up a bit of power at lower RPMs. The first one I bought I felt almost cheated, it weighs about half as much as the stock GSR manifold.
