Icon2 6th gen windshield molding

Ok so I'm painting my hatch in a day or so and want to know if I remove the windshield molding will it create a leak it is not the original windshield so there is no clips and it does have that glass glue I'm pretty sure it goes all the way around.

Same question for the rear window on the hatch oem glass though.

Shouldn't cause a leak, the molding just covers the gap around the windshield. You'll see when you take them off.
