2000 honda civic pistons/engine problem
i have a 2000 honda civic that has roughly 209000 miles on it. i was driving down the interstate about a month ago and suddenly the car(engine) started makin a knocking noise. i then proceeded to pull over becuase the knockin sound became faster as i tried to accelerate.i then proceeded to walk to nearest store, baught oil thinking that it was the problem of low oil.went back to my car and put the oil in and the car started for about 5 seconds and died again.what type/kind of problem would have caused this knockin sound???
Timing belt may have jumped a tooth, the knocking is valves hitting pistons, or maybe you spun a bearing, broken valve spring(s), valve lash is way off.
Could be any number of things, your going to have to pull the head to find out, check the timing belt and valve lash, valve springs on the way to pulling the head. 94
