I'm looking for a strong clutch for my 98 Civic EX. I'm putting a turbo on and plan to boost the heck out of it

It'll spend 90% of it's time on the street though not the track so the clutch needs to be street friendly. Not one of those puck style clutches.

The car is a a D16 SOHC motor and tranny is an S40 I believe.

I found a Comp stage 1.5 on Speed Factory's website that I've been told is very strong and a good clutch. It's $265

I see however different brand stage 2 clutches on ebay for $128 shipped. Is this a case of getting what you pay for?

Oddly the stage 1.5 Comp is rated at 275 ft/lbs and the XTR stage 2 is rated 230 ft/lbs so clearly Stage #s don't carry across manufactures. They all do their own thing is seems.

What do you guys recommend for a good street clutch that will hold some power and not break the bank?

go to comps web site look at power goals and find a clutch that matchs.

 

Thanks for the reply. I ended up calling Speed Factory and they sold me on the Comp 1.5 clutch so I ordered it. They said it's very under rated and they've had customers holding up to 400hp with it. We'll see how it does
