hi well i have a 93 honda del sol and this problem just started since last thursday, when i go to turn it on it cranks and everything but doesnt turn over it sounds like it chokes and it sounds like it wants to start but it doesent and then dies...need to fix asap and cant figure out what it is any help i would appreciated

 

Have you checked the basics?

Fuel spark and timing.

If its making like a popping backfire noise like its trying to start chances are your timing has jumped.

 

CEL codes? Does the fuel pump prime? Is there bright white spark at the plugs?

 

I have a 93 del sol si D16Z6 auto and had to replace the fuel pump recently.
When you turn the key to the first position pause and listen for the whirrr of the fuel pump. It's easy to hear in a del sol because the fuel pump is right behind your seats under the plastic cover. If you don't hear it the problem is probably the pump.

No. You hear it from behind the seats. The fuel pump is inside the gas tank behind the seats under the plastic fascia. For access take off the center console plastic from the stick shift back. Then take out the plastic compartments behind the seats.

That might be the relay you hear. There's nothing in the engine bay that should buzz.

 

The fuel pump is located in the gas tank (rear). You may think the noise is coming from the engine bay, but it's actually coming from the rear.

 

im not doubting you. theres the black cylinder thing in my engine bay you hear it fill up with gas and go dzuzuuummmmmm
