Shock suggestions
I have an 02. I just bought a set of Swift Spec R springs. Should I pair these with CR shocks, or look into Koni yellows? (Don't want a coilover while still stationed in WA.)

Drop amount and spring rate?
AP1 and CR shocks aren't *that* different telling from the shock dyno graphs I remember seeing in sport compact car.

The CR shocks will def. work just fine. Idk what OTS S2000 spec konis are rated for....but they might work also.
I believe the CR route might be cheaper? Plus you get monotube construction nd that cool looking external reservoir.
The konis do have adjustable damping...which is only good if you feel you need it.

just run it on ur stockers till they blow. i think you should be ok. i put 30k on my stockers with espelirs without any problems. and im gona be running the same set up on my next S while i save for coilovers

I'm on stockers now with some skunk2 springs, and I'm going to make the move to koni's when I decided to save some money. Mostly because I do like the fact you can adjust them, I've heard good things about the ride quality, And i like that I can save up a couple more hundred and get ground control coils

The stock CR springs are like 8.6 kg/mm Front and 6.4 kg/mm rear. I'm willing to be OTS ground controls are around there or not much (if any) higher. They're probably around 6-7Kg/mm. But I'm guessing.
The standard ground controls are made to be used with stock shocks. You'd be surprised at how much rate the stock shocks can handle.
Also, the Konis aren't an adjustable body shock. So over lowering the car will have a bad impact on Konis...just like they'll have a bad impact on stock shocks.
The difference, I guess, is that Konis are lifetime guaranteed and are adjustable for various spring rates incase you want to change them. Adjustable damping really is only good if you actually know WTF you're doing.
Edit: Damn, I'm good. Looks like standard ground controls are ~6kg/mm (340LBS/in) Front and ~7kg/mm (380lbs/in) rear. Not too much for stock CR shocks. Infact, the CR springs are a HIGHER rate than OTS ground controls up front.
IDK. Konis are nice, I guess because you can adjust them to a different spring if you decide to go that route. I'd figure out what the heaviest spring they can handle is, though.
I suppose I *might* be swayed toward the Konis just because of the adjustability and the lifetime guarantee. But then again, I think the CR shocks are cheaper and very well made, and should last a LONG time also. Plus, the damping on the CR shocks are set nicely so that you can't screw it up. You can really screw up a car's handling/ride via bad adjustments. Plus, the CR shocks have monotube design and that sick *** external reservior thing going lol.
