Default 88 CRX Clutch

I installed my D15z1 with an 88 HF tranny in my 90 CRX DX... pressed the bearing, bolted the flywheel to the motor, cleaned the surfaces, added the clutch with the line up tool, bolted on the pressure plate to the flywheel. greased the center shaft of the tranny. The throwout springs in the tranny feel good.

as I tightened the flex plate to 20ft/lbs I did notice the fingers of the flex plate sucked in to the flywheel... It seemed normal at the time but now that i think about it...

so here is the Issue... I jumped in the car and hit the clutch pedel to see if the cable is adjusted correctly, and I can push the clutch pedal to the floor with 1 finger, and am able to pull the clutch lever that the cable attaches to with 1 finger also... WAY too easy!!!!

any ideas??

you are in the wrong forum, but i will help

1988 d series tranny's are oddballs, and used a different clutch disk than 89-91 models. The main shaft of the tranny has a different number of teeth on it

Sorry bout posting in the wrong subforum... I figured it out... I'm so used to hydro clutches/trannys, I assumed the freeplay of the clutch fork arm was the engagement/ travel... After I took out the freeplay by tightening the cable, the Throw out could move the fingers...

It feels like it should now!!!

Thanks

im glad you fixed the issue. bout to say just adjust the cable more. the clutch arm does move a bit before it touches the p plate fingers. enjoy your new clutch

Haha I had the same problem when I dropped a D16Y7 into mine using my 89's transmission. I didn't expect that much adjustment needing to be done on the clutch cable...
