I was driving home and my car started cutting out. It finally died and i coasted off the road. Black Smoke was coming out the exhaust and the Cat was red hot. I think the Cat clogged and burned up. The car did smell like it was running rich earlier. Any recommended brand converter to replace it? I think i can swap it out, but need to order one first. 1990 CRX DX Thanks.

The car didnt overheat and was running fine between cutting out. When i stopped i did smell a kinda odd smell comming from the back. Almost like burnt plastic. But a little different. The engine is stock and only has 90,000 mi. Im almost positive the converter is fractured and clogged the system. Im looking for any recommendations for a new converter. Anyone have any bad experiences with a particular brand?

 

there all shitty goto a muffler shop im sure they can hook you up

 

they sell a direct fir replacement cat at oreily's for $114. its made by magnaflow. just replaced mine and took me less than a hour.
