Default installed tein basic dampers.... something went wrong

after installing the teins today, i realized the front passenger side makes a ton of noise. I even looked at the top part, something went wrong. I don't know what happened but the passenger side sits higher on the top part of the spring. I bought these used from a friend who crashed his integra, but i installed them on a EG. The first picture is what it's suppose to look like, and the passenger side looks like that...

looks like your tophat is broken, that bushing is suppose to sit in the tophat, the noise is probably the strut hitting the hood or something

Does anyone know where I can buy tophats? OEM or aftermarket? I saw a diagram of what I need to replace and I need # 6,9, 12, and possibly 7.
Here is the link to the diagram. https://www.hondapartsdeals.com/imag...S020.010.2.gif

Tophat is probably fine, but the thick washer that goes underneath is bad. You'll have to take the shock/spring assembly apart and replace the washer, #13 in the diagram.

I remember on my Konis that the shaft was stepped down at the threads and the washer had to go on that step before putting the collar on that went through the two bushings.

Easy mistake, easy fix. No harm done.

I'm using a diagram from the tein website now and on page 8 which one am I suppose to replace? The thick washer meaning the rubber? or the tiny O-ring looking washers?

You have to reuse it when using aftermarket shocks generally. I just installed 2 new tokico blues on my 4 door this week and had to reuse the old washers.

I might have to buy some of these, might as well buy a pair and replace both fronts. I looked closer on the passenger side and the rubber is torn. what do u guys think of energy suspension?

very good stuff in poly. But squeaky. You gotta grease them. .............your link is for moog . On the ES site. Moog is stock replacement rubber. The best stock replacement.

Guys, I just found out that the diagram that I used previously isn't from an integra! no wonder I was confused with the #13. According to this diagram that I put on this reply, it was #7 and #14 that need replacing, the top #7 is ripped and the bottom #7 isn't even there! and #14 is splitting in half. According to this diagram, I think I can snag these from a honda dealership.

The aftermath: The top hat was broken (part of the inner piece chipped right off), the collar that goes through the rubbers is bent, one of the washer's rings went from a circle shape to an oval shape, the top rubber is messed up AND the bottom rubber that goes under the top hat is missing! my friend must've hit something HARD during his accident, but other than that, everything turned out great.
