Hi anyone in NC

My son registered his car (or mine?) in NC due to his school there, I'm having a few questions, I'm living in Virginia, normally I have to:

1. Emission Testing every 2 years
2. Safety Inspection every year
3. Pay county tax and buy window decal sticker every year

- Any differences in NC?
- Can I do 1 and 2 in VA whenever my son coming home when his school is off? it's valid in NC?

Yearly inspection due at the same time tags are due. Depending on the year, might or might not have emissions testing...yes the 95 and older ones only have to have a safety inspection.

County taxes due every year. Don't pay them, tags can't be renewed.

If the car has NC plates the testing will have to be done in NC.

My pleasure....Just wondering, which school. The oldest is at state.

A 99 will have emissions testing every year....there is some recent talk in the state government about changing the law to be every two years but we'll have to see.

 

Also you have one year from titling and registering an out of state car with inspections. Just found that out when I got my 01 Accord out of SC.
