Default Fastest Honda in the standing mile....

Didn't know where I'd post this but I think this is the right section?

I tried searching but didn't come up with anything, so my ? is...

What is the fastest Honda in the standing mile ? (texas mile, maxton mile, etc)

I'm guessing it would be an NSX because of its aerodynamics and longer gears. But has anyone seen a swapped civic/integra/prelude/crx in the standing mile?

I wonder how fast a honda could go with an LS 5th gear or gsr trans? Not sure how long the gears are in H swapped cars?...

I don't know about the standing mile, but there was a supercharged civic built for Bonneville, by a guy that was sponsored by Progress suspension, and it was pretty damn fast.

Here's an old link to the story.

Ya I've seen that Si before. But that's built for Bonneville. The standing mile events usually consist of "road" cars. I know most of them are built/caged/etc but for the most part, they can drive on the road. That built Si for the salt flats is a pure, all out race car! Def. bad *** tho! lol

I've always wanted to run in the standing mile or at Bonneville. Surprised you don't see more Hondas involved in it really.

By no means the fastest EVER but @ Miami I did 153mph as best time @ the standing mile (from 0 to the mile).. NSX, with exhaust and straight pipes, which is pretty much stock for the NA2.

I'm not, I can imagine the stability of a FWD Civic or Integ at 180+ mph is less than good lol

Not to mention keeping one of these motors together with high hp/load over 25sec might be a slight challenge as well.

If you built the car specifically for it, I don't see what the problem would be.

Most of the cars running big speed have aero work regardless of the body type. I know i definitely wouldn't wanna be running sustained 180+ mph with a bone stock exterior Civic or Integra but it's not something that can't be fixed. There are a few cars out running at Bonneville and they all have considerable aero work, i think that's pretty much a given with one of these builds. I think you'd want to add a bit of weight to the car as well, 2400+/-lb cars get a little loose past 170.

I watched days worth of tx mile vids are there were very few cars running over 200mph with aero mods, unless you consider speed tape a mod.

Damn, days worth? How many of those were non exotics or GT cars that were desgined to go over 200mph?

Here's a Camaro...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2FIfAuPOq4

and a VW GTI...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fy28qa9Gk1c

and an EVO...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE7NaT0RMQ8

and another EVO...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-jdEj5eMcM

I've seen quite a few that have work done to them. Not saying it isn't possible but if i was in a fairly light chassis and/or one that wasn't designed to go over 200 mph, i would be looking into way to keep it shiny side up and slip through the air a little more efficiently.

All those cars you just listed appear to have stock bodies except for the AMS car, I would be just as worried with weight distribution at those speeds as I would be with the aero, tail light cars and high speed dont go together.

It takes big ole hairy nuts to go 184mph in a crx period.

HOLY SH*T!!!!!!!

that crx is nasty! bad ***! 185 is damn fast. Imagine a built K series turbo in that little thing. would fly!

oscar_driver: 153 is pretty quick for a stock nsx with just exhaust. props on that one.

I have some fam in TX and I would love to attend one of the Texas Mile events. Most of the top runners are Ford GT's, boosted Vettes, Lambos...etc. cars that cost WELL over 100k

I would love to run the standing mile if i was around 500whp and had a full cage lol

Hondata's cars are all full out race cars with huge budgets. that Hollister crx is more of a "home built" type of car. Mad props to Hollister for building a bad *** crx. I'd love to see vids of this car in action

just watched those vids

that camero did that run on 20s!!! haha that is insane. and that gti is damn impressive. looked like a stock body with just a front lip. 11k redline and 800+whp. wonder what a drag eg with 800whp and different gearing would do?!...

The VW has a rear wing, a splitter, and rocker skirts. Without those is was real sketchy above 200, once those were added it made a huge difference in stability.

At 180mph my car feels ok, but I wouldn't want to go much faster in it. My GTR at 183 at the mile felt like a cruise down the highway.

supra is running 230+mph with no roll cage?!! talk about ballsy

for the most part that VW looked stock on the outside. crazy how minor body mods can really affect the cars stability at high speeds. GTR's are a whole different story. Those cars are..... special

I doubt a standard cage would do much during a 230 mph roll over
