On my em1, the manual "pull out" antenna is broken and was wondering if anyone has replaced it with an aftermarket short antenna? How is the reception. I was just looking on ebay at the cheapy stubby antennas and the reception they say is "3.5/5". Just needing some input on a replacement.

 

Are you actually talking about putting one of those universal Ebay-type short antennas on your Civic? Get an OEM replacement. It's not like these are powered units.

 

I dont like the length and don't want to pull it out every time I want to listen to the radio. Ive seen the little "shark fin" ones, that ive also considered as well.

 

Start drilling/decrease the value of your car sticking universally made parts onto it if you go that route. You will risk fitment/leaking issues. Unless these are powered units the reception is no better than stock replacements.

 

Leave the drilling to me. I don't half *** my work like alot of folks.

 

It's not the drilling. The parts you are looking for are not custom fit to your car. If it were me and I listened to the radio I would try to get one of those stealth powered antennas from an Accord for instance.

 

You could always have the antenna half way out.


Get a oem one and do that. Paint it black before you put it on if you want it to look a little cleaner.

 

mine also wouldn't collapse. so i just stuffed in the 'a' pillar and put an antenna block on.
