Default buying used turbo setup

ok the question i have is this, this kid i know wants to sell me a greddy turbo kit for the 92-95 sohc, including the greddy intercooler kit, greddy bov, all parts and piping that are needed for the install, greddy turbo timer, and greddy boost controller, for $1200. he told me he just wants to get rid of it because he needs money for a swap. he said the turbo has about 2 years and 40k miles on it. so my question is, this sounds like a good deal, but what should i look for before i buy it. is 40k to many miles on the turbo, and what are some tell tale signs of the kit not being in good shape?

Default Re: buying used turbo setup (poxu)

it depends on how hes driven it. Considering you said "this kid" sounds like he's 17 and he could drive kinda crazy. Anyways, that deal you have is a very good deal and I personally WOULD NOT pass up on that deal. First off, its GReddy, one of the most reliable brands out there...Second, he's giving you plenty of extras that is not included in a standard GReddy kit so it sounds like a really great deal. The only problem you MIGHT want to check out is the turbo itself. 2 years isnt THAT much for turbo but it really depends on how it was used....check for play and make sure everything looks good before you buy it....Good Luck
