Ignition Timing won't change, distributor all the way
Hi guys,
I have a 1989 Acura Integra LS with a D16A1 motor in it. Engine was rebuilt some time ago. The ignition timing is way off. With my adjustable Timing light set to 18deg, the mark on the timing belt cover aligns with the 0deg white mark on the crank pulley, instead of the red mark. Cam's seem to be aligned and the distributor is advanced all the way, so can't make any changes. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!
P.S.Yes, the appropriate wires are jumped.

if you had a lot of metal shaved off the head and block the timing will be off requiring adj cam gears and degreeing the cams to run correctly. you're either a tooth off on the cams or half a tooth-ish due to the shaving
Thanks for the reply. I do remember the machine shop resurfacing the head and the cam being half a tooth off when I installed the timing belt. I guess I'll have to try going the other way on the tooth before I get the adjusting cam gears. What I don't remember is aligning the crank-gear to the pointer on the oil pump, was done a long time ago and was my first rebuild. I did follow all the steps in the book so most likely I did but this issue is putting me in doubt. Would that also affect timing? I know the # 1 piston is at TDC when the cam gears say "up" and the distributor rotor points to # 1 spark plug wire.
