Default Problem starting CRX HF w/B16A

As it's titled, I'm having problems starting this car. It had been sitting for a few yrs. I just got it 2 days ago. It is running on stock hf ecu I believe w/an Apexi VAFC. When I got it, the VAFC was not working and fuel pump was not pumping. So yesterday, I got the VAFC working and put a new fuel pump in it. So, now it's getting fuel pressure. But no start still. Starter turns(it cranks) but no start. Doesn't even act like it wants to fire. I sprayed a little starter fluid in the throttle body and still only the starter is turning. So, question......if starter fluid doesn't even make the engine kick for a second, it's not getting spark right?
Please respond if you have ANY idea or opinion.
Thanks
Brad

depends if they did obd1
also if the spark plugs are wet and you try to start it it can cause your distributor to go bad quick

For obd-0 B16 (PWO or PR3) the correct Distributor is #TD-22.

This part is difficult to find and expensive so just get a 90 Integra Distributor #TD-23 and cut off one of the legs.

Cut as shown. It is easier than you think, cast aluminum is not that hard. I grinded mine off in a bench grinder in 3 min.

ok #1 the previous owner LIED to u about the ecu so take into consideration that he lied to u it was running. i see all the time people selling there cars cause they got in over there heads with swaps
# 2 check spark and fuel
# 3 is the ecu throwing any codes
# 4 dont start throwing parts at it not knowing, or atleast get it down to just a couple of things it could be. right now it could be alot of things

Was the car running when you bought it? Check for fuel, spark, and ground. If not it could be an electrical nightmare from the previous owner.

No kidding.

Ok I got a new distributor. The thing started like the second crank.
It runs decent. It sputters a bit at quarter throttle and up. But I'm pretty sure that's due to it not being on time. It doesn't have a timing cover so I can't get the notches lined up w/the needle on the cover cause it's not there.
But I put the cover on tonight. So next time I start it, I should be able to time it.
Would you say the sputtering is due to being off time?
