Default Buddy club coilovers??

Hey gang I'm just looking for a little input from the HT crowd, I'm building another teg that I justed picked up. It's a 95 rs and I'm ready to do work, The car is going to serve as a DD but I would to get in some track days too. Right now I'm just looking for what coilovers to run, Ive got skunk2 lca's, a breaks subframe brace, jdm itr sway bars f&r, and a spoon front tie bar. I've been reading a lot of reviews but now i'm even more confused, I'm looking at buddy club n+, ksport pros, c8sport ssd's, and function form type 1's. If anyone has any solid input on the subject or a better choice I'd love to hear it. Thanks guys.

Honestly...and I hate to stray away from what your interested in but if you want to do a little bit of both (track and DD) I think you'd be happier w/the koni/GC setup, possibly even PIC???

My good friend used to have the n+ system on his car...looked great, appear to be built well...handled good, but NOT on the street. STIFFFFFFF, if you have to deal w/any roads that are not "smooth" as glass you'll wanna kill urself! (Even on the softest setting)

Whatever you do, just don't go w/the FFtype 1's IMO. Too many complaints about this product as of recent.

Take this all with grain of salt...from an old man, perhaps the "stiff-ness" is more your style though.

GL Sir Wallace.

Finally someone speaks the truth. This was the worst "JDM" suspension I have ever owned and sold it after 2 weeks. Going from Koni/Skunk2 in my weekend car to N spec + in my daily was retarded. Koni/GC blows these things out of the water. Unless you need to be madjdmvtecyo.

Hmmm, good stuff to think about. My best set I've had so far is teins and tokico blues or my gc on kyb's. I just never had full coilovers before and it seemed like a good way to go, but what your saying really hits the nail on the head. Thanks for the input, now i'm back to square one :p. Thanks guy's good stuff.

I am not sure what they guys speak of.. but I have N+'s on my 97 GSR. I have had Teins, Stance, And megan Coilovers and these by far ride the best and for the price you can't bet them. can be bought brand new under 700 bucks.

I have had 4 people in my car and it rides amazing for being as low as it is i was really surprised.

I DD my car probably 200+ miles a week and I live in the northwest which has the worse roads in the world and they work great.

But that's just my input

Why do people seem to think that you can change the stiffness of a suspension (which is only determined by the spring rates, BTW) by adjusting the shock damping?

Adjustable shocks exist so you can match the shock to the spring rate and vehicle weight, or to fine tune handling behavior.

For a DD with some track use, you'll need to first figure out how stiff you want the springs. From there, you an then look at "full package" setups that are close to your desired spring rate, or order a sleeve with the desired rate springs and a set of shocks that can handle the chosen spring rates.

Leave buying a suspension based off of the brand to the hard-parkers. It sounds like you want the car to be functional first, so ignore brands for now and first figure out what you need, then see who offers the closest solution to your needs.

Well said, perhaps I should have elaborated a bit prior to ranting (which is my bad)...although I completely understand what your talking about regarding the suspension geometry, adjusting the shock dampening still gives the driver a "feel" of having softer suspension when the shock dampening is adjusted regardless of spring rates. On my DC2 my Tein SS's definitely felt more daily-drivable when the shock was adjusted to the softest setting. Just my $.02

Wasn't trying to throw out bad advice...I just should have been more descriptive. Follow Tuner, he's got you on the right page.

Yes drivability is my main concern. I am a little brand specific at some times only because I've been in the game for some time and have had some brands turn out crap like megan racing, but i can tell you buddy club make some of the best stuff i have ever seen. I really need to sit down and figure out what spring rates i want to run.

And what I posted before isn't 100% correct, since some shocks (such as Tein SSs) adjust shock compression and rebound damping together. Excessive high speed compression damping feels like a stiffer spring is in use when hitting bumps, but doesn't provide the same benefit of reduced roll and pitch that the stiffer springs would. Sounds like a lose-lose scenario for a street car to me (has it's place on track though)...

Then you want the softest springs you can tolerate using on track.

If track use was the primary concern, then you would be trying to figure out what the stiffest spring you could tolerate on the street would be.

I'm not saying ignore brands entirely. I am saying to decide exactly what you need first, then see what the known good brands offer that is as close as you can get to it.

Asking about brands first will have you doing this backwards, trying to convince yourself that what brand X makes is what you want. It might be, but not necessarily.

If drive-ability really is your main concern, 350/250, and only lower it around 1.5" from stock. Or buy Eibach Sportline springs (about those rates and lowering).

My priorities were different, so I ended up with 400/400 rates on my DC2, and a wife who hates riding in my car.

I forgot to add that they had little to no difference in adjustments.
