Default Rear Lower Tie Bar...Worth it?

Hey HT'ers...

Anyone of you guys running a Rear Lower Tie bar on your DC/DB's...if so is it worth it? Any truthful thoughts or opinions would be great. I've heard people say it makes a difference...I'd just like direct opinions from DC/DB owners if possible though.

On my last DC2 I was running the ASR Subframe/Sway Bar combo but thats overkill for my current setup.

So whats up HT...are these tie bars $hit or what? Also, is brand particularly important when ordering these? (Skunk, BWR, etc...) I'm not saying I'm going to cheap out...but why would I pay $120 for skunk if I could pay $50 for BWR, they're clearly identical. Am I trippin?

HOLLLLAAAAAA

40 view midnight bump... anyone have any input?

Mods if you think I'd get better results in the suspension forum feel free to bump. Cheers

Just in the past two days I read a post 'here' that pretty much said it was the best $180 spent on his suspension.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...suspension+bar

To quote: "Re: New to the site

Your already on the right track Freeclowns.

PS- for a HUGE suspension difference think about a rear sway bar such as the Beaks/98 Spec ITR sway bar combo or the Progress 22mm rear sway bar/endlink combo. Best $180 suspension mod you can do to your car. period. "

YMMV!

Good luck

I'm a little confused....that was my post (which I'm sure you noticed.) Your totally f-ing with me right?

The $180 was only for the beaks SF reinforcement kit/itr combo and had absolutely nothing to do with a lower tie bar, which I am thinking about adding to my current suspension setup

Beaks/ITR combo:

Am I misinterpreting something here? If you have some feedback regarding rear lower tie bars let me know! TX

That's what Honda tech is for man ppl to not answer the question u asked but answer a question that has nothing to do with what u asked I don't have a dc but it all really depends on what other suspension you have if your bone stock and throw a tie bar on I don't think you'll notice a real difference but if you already have some strut bars and sway bars and lcas and **** it will prolly feel a little stiffer like less body roll is your car just a daily or do you do auto x or anything like that?

No auto x but I'm a definite suspension ***** and body roll is my nemesis. What you mention is is funny, for whatever reason I'd think adding a bar w/no suspension would be more effective then adding a lower tie bar w/mod'd suspension.

Its so hard to choose between track and something that keeps the wife and kids happy. HAHA

Right now I'm riding an Eibach Pro-System, after having done enough reading I decided I'm going to spring for the progress 22mm sway since it comes with some mounting plates, and endlinks...all for like $165. Can't beat that, and Progress is tried and true.

Strut tower bars have been a huge debate for me so far...just not sure how I feel about the damn things.

Anyways, back to lower ties...any other Ht'ers wanna chime in?

Strut bars really aren't worth it on an Integra.

A swaybar is a fantastic upgrade for a mildly modified daily driver.

If you run a huge rear swaybar with softer springs, you might want some form of reinforcement just for peace of mind though.

Tie bar worth it? Absolutely not. You really won't feel anything at all with one of this. A larger rear sway bar, on the other hand, will make a huge difference in the way the car handles. I currently have OEM ITR rear springs along with OEM ITR 22mm sway bar and it handles pretty nice for a strictly street-driven daily driver.

Thanks for the words P, the sway is a definite given, would the combo of the two be negligible? As opposed to only using the sway bar in your opinion?

You'll never actually feel any difference a tie bar could make. You might think you do, same as many people think their car feels faster with a louder exhaust, placebo effect and all that.

When you're chasing that last 0.01 second/lap, and are consistent enough to notice such a small change, then you can see if tie bars actually make a difference. And even then, the odds are that the weight of the bar will more than offset any improvement in chassis stiffening.

For a street car, a swaybar makes a handling difference, a tie bar is for looks. If you want both, get both, but do so knowing you're paying for a "cosmetic upgrade".

There we go....thats essentially what I was searching for to a "t" Tuner. Thanks man, always appreciate your kind and honest responses.

Cosmetic upgrades are not my thing, think I have to put the kibosh on this concept. I appreciate you taking the time to respond my man.

Lower tie bars are okay for more reinforcement, but getting the ASR not only gives you the same(if not more) reinforcement, but protects you from subframe tear when running a large swaybar. The extra load on the swaybar transfers to the subframe brace instead of the subframe itself.

Typically in most cases, you still won't FEEL the difference no matter what reinforcement you have down there. The idea is to have the best combination of suspension components to achieve a result. Spring rates, damper settings, swaybar thickness, alignment, and tire choice all comes into play when it comes to making your car FEEL better at the corners.

I have the ASR/ITR RSB combo, with buddy club N+ spec coilovers. With the right tires, my car feels like it's on rails in the canyons.

You are right, the ASR bar is a great product to prevent any and all possibility of subframe damage from large sway bars. What gets me are these people who run the ASR bar AND the Beaks tie bar below it. All that does is add weight and reduces ground clearance.

^^^you insulting bastard....beaks tie bar and asr shouldn't even go in the same sentence! Ever. And its really hard to catch hella air w/that bar killing ground clearance :p

No for real, I appreciate all of your guys comments...as my children get older, and I get older...I think I've just decided that the best setup for me in my old age is progress sway on my eibach pro springs and struts. I no longer have need or want for extreme suspension setups but I did want to help out the body roll a bit and I know the progress bar will cut this in half.

I don't necessarily why I thought a lower tie bar would be a good compliment to this setup but I figured i had to ask! HAAHH

Thanks Tuner/P/and Turbo...you guys are always here for my suspension needs. Much love.
