Hey Everyone,
This introduction is long overdue since I have been a member of this site since 2003 but...here is a little about me. My first car was a 1985 dual carbureted Prelude. I loved it so much I bought a 93 Prelude vtec in 2002. I bought the car for a good price because it was burning oil due to bad rings and had full intentions of rebuilding the motor. At the time, I did not really have the knowledge or direction of what to do, so I did what anyone in my position would have done...I just started ripping it apart. I learned a lot from a few friends who are mechanics and even more from reading and the experience of tearing it down. While that car was down I purchased a 90 Prelude Si for $600 with less than 100,000 miles on it. It was cheap because the car would not start in the summer heat. I found out this happens because the solder on one of the modules wears it prevents the car from turning over in the heat. $600 and 15 minutes of work and I still have a car that loves me long time...haha. So back to the current. I left the whole car scene around 2003 because other things came up that demanded my attention and wallet, but I am back. Despite many offers on my motor and on my car I never let it go. I just loved the car too much. I recently had a fire lit under my *** and decided to get it back on the road.
My H22 has;
-87 mm JE 10:1 forged pistons
-Cast iron sleeves
-Eagle H beam rods
-ACT 6 buck clutch
-ClutchMaster lightened flywheel
-Lightened Harmonic Balancer (not sure what the brand is...I think i just bought one off of eBay. Big mistake, I know)
-Fully rebalanced bottom end up to 10,000 rpm
-Skunk2 valves and dual valve springs
-Skunk2 Stage 2 camshafts
-AEM cam gears
-AEM cold air intake
-AEM Fuel Rail (MIA)
-AEM fuel pressure regulator
-AEM pulleys (another one I do not know why I bought)
-DC 4-2-1 header
-High flow cat
-Tanabe 2.5 inch Racing Medallion exhaust
-A bunch of other no motor stuff like true JDM one piece head lights, AutoMeter gauges, the first true short shifter for the 4th gen ( do not remember who made it) and few other things.
Originally, I wanted to go all motor but after only a few hundred miles with the motor back together I cam across a great deal on a JG built head. It is ported and polished with a ported and polished throttle body port matched to the intake manifold, a ported and polished intake manifold that is port matched to the head, and a remapped ECU. I figured since I was buying this new head that was capable of more air flow why not force some air into it. That was when I got called away from the car.
I am still planning on going with a turbo kit eventually but I would like to get the car back on the road n/a for a little while just to work out any issues and to let the rings and gaskets seat. The block is currently getting honed and I am having a valve job done to the JG head. I know I am going to run into some issues and figured what would be better than rekindling my love for preludes with a bunch of knowledgeable people who love preludes too. Currently, I am getting flustered at some things I have misplaced in last several years for the car and more at some things I have to purchase. I have been reading around this site and others to find good parts but I can not really decide. I am looking at a full gasket set, full bearing sets, and valve guides. I have read all about the ACL, King, and Clevite bearings, the supertech guides but was thinking of just going with the Beck Arnley guides, and was thinking about doing a cheaper gasket set for most of the various gaskets and buying OEM or Fel-Pro for the important ones (crank seals, head gasket, valve seals, and cam seals). Any tips and advice from people who have been in this position would be great.
Thanks for reading guys.
