STILL running rich, do not know whats going on
things ive changed
Spark plugs ngk g power
Wires ngk
NTK o2 sensor
Cap
Rotor
fuel filter
Ect sensor
timing belt
water pump
new thermostat
swapped in new injectors just to see if there was a difference no difference
2 bottles of sea foam
Cleaned iacv
Bleed coolant until no more air was left
ive done more just trying to remember i did a lot
Some days my check engine light will be on for running rich, some days itll go off and then itll go back on for running rich again i get them checked all the time and its for running rich
my only mods are header dc sport 4-1 full exhaust and intake

whats an ect sensor. Change the o2 sensor. My budies b16 was running extremely rich. Gave him my 02 sensor. Problem solved.
timings good my tuner checked it for me. how do i check the map? and the motor is stock with the stock ecu all it has is an intake, header dc sport 4-1 and a full exhaust custom piping

i mostly get this code P0172 running rich i know i am because i see the black soot on my rear bumper even after i wash my car and every once in a while i get a misfire code in cylinder 3 and 4 but the check engine light comes off and and on when its on the car runs like complete crap it feels sluggish but when it turns off the car feels amazing and im definitely getting better gas milage but i just want the light to turn off completely and not turn back on until something else goes wrong. oh yea and sometimes the idle will fluctuate but mostly stay at idle around 700 and sometimes if i drive without letting the car warm up itll stall out but still start up as soon as it stalls out
hmmm. have you checked for any vacuum leaks? because a fair sized leak would cause a lean condition sometimes to the point of misfiring. and when you misfire you won't burn fuel. except a vacuum leak would likely cause a random misfire code. you've checked compression? though if 3 and 4 were low enough to cause misfiring, you'd definitely feel it.
regardless, it sounds like the misfire codes and rich code are certainly related.
find out why cyl 3 and 4 are misfiring and you'll likely resolve your issue
and the reason why it runs well when the cel is illuminated is because the pcm switches to open loop mode. ie fixed fuel parameters. this is apposed to closed loop in which the pcm receives feedback from the ect sensor and o2 sensor among others, and adjusts accordingly

i would just buy a fuel regulator if your still getting the same problems think anbout it you can just tune down your fuel intake saving money at pump eveytime and possibly better fuel econmy or just fix with the setting on your ride

rich symptoms are.
#1 02 sensaor
#2 fuel filter
#3 injectors
#4plugs or wires
#5 timing/distributor/map/TDC sensor problem
#6 vac leak
#7 emission leak before the o2 sensor
#8 bad cat
#9 computer issue
#10 fuel pressure / pump
#11 if ur saying none or all this doesnt fix ur problem u have bigger problems then a fuel problem

Howdy....I just purchased a 96 Accord EX 4 cylinder and my CEL is on with a code of p0172....I have also changed the MAP sensor, plugs, the upstream o2 sensor, and run a bottle of Lucas fuel system cleaner...the light remains, and it runs sluggish especially going uphill and forget about running the AC (it just about kills the engine) Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any advice as to what I should do next....fuel pressure regulator?....downstream o2 sensor?....dynamite?
pull your spark plugs and see what color it is.
i found out my problem was my cat i got it cut out and since i have a custom exhaust set up i welded in a new carsound magnaflow cat and was probably the best decision ive ever made. car feels a lot smoother with this cat then the cat i had before. oh and my dc sport header 4-1 was dented to **** it looked like the previous owner was banging on the top of the header so he can get clearance to fit but not i have a dc sport 4 2 1 header and couldnt be happier with the performance of my car now. i no longer have a cel

Yeah I changed the plugs....they didn't look too horrible, but I did just buy this car and it is possible that the previous owner changed the plugs before selling it....he probably cleared the CEL as well....
HELLO???.....I am having a terrible time solving this problem...I changed the MAP sensor, spark plugs, fuel pressure regulator, cleaned the EGR manifold valves...fuel rail...and fuel injectors....ran a couple bottles of fuel system cleaner....and still I am running too rich....what else could I try? Please any help would be very much appreciated
