Default Installing Mugen thermoswitch....

Hello all. I recently got the Mugen thermoswitch and it didn't come with instructions. When I was having a friend {Acura sevice tech} work on my car {Integra} the other day I asked if he could install the switch he said no problem. When I went to pick the Teg up he said he couldn't install the switch cuz it didn't match and I needed to get one for the radiator. Isn't this the switch that screws into the thermostat housing to the left of the distributor. He said the threads don't match yet ther is no sign of even attempting the install. My car is a 98 Integra GS. When I spoke to Scott at KingMotorsports he said it's the right part for my car. Anyone know how to install the switch? I figured I'd just do it myself. I have a Helms manuel and it seems the manuel calls it an ECT sensor. Do I need to drain coolant, ..... Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

"If" the thermoswitch is the correct part number, designed for your car and thermostat housing, then the install should be simple...take out the old part and put in the new (drain a little coolant first..or just do a complete coolant flush and replacement). However, a while ago Mugen was selling thermoswitches for 5g Preludes that did not fit our t-stat housings. What we ended up doing is buying s2K switches and modifiying (drill & tap) our t-stat housings to accept the larger diameter threaded switch. So go to the Teg forums and make sure the switch is "supposed to" fit...otherwise, you will have to get your t-stat housing modified.

You do know that you will need to change the t-stat to a lower temp one..right?

Already done. Did that about a 1 1/2 years ago. They recently (a few months ago) offered the Mugen switch at King to match the cap and thermostat . Thanx for the post. Again it seems that the service tech didn't even attempt the install. So the part should be the one according to them. They said it should fit all B series motors. Anyone have any step by step instructions cuz I want to do it right. Thanks again in advance. Was I right in assuming that the switch is the same as the ECT sensor in the helms manual.

TTT Anyone? I know someone must. I've never done this and I wanna do it right. It appears to be a 15/16 or 24mm socket to remove the ect switch and slap the Mugen one in. The only difference I see based on sight is the stock one comes with a crush washer and the Mugen comes with rubber O ring. Does this matter? Also do I need to apply any sealant or is O ring all I need? Lastly is it best to drain coolant or just deal with what spills out and add coolant accordingly? Thanx again for any responses or insight.

on my B16 the switch was in the back of the block, next to the oil filter and oil pressure swithch. I had to get an adapter to make it fit though. Something like 17mm to 15mm or something.
