Fried battery cable...Please help :(
I'll start with saying I know I shouldn't have attempted this but I was stupid and did..was trying to clean the wiring harness up and extend a few to do a partial tuck.Well...I thought I had everything back together right, guess not.So I clicked the key on..dash lights came on and everything, then attempted to turn the car over and nothing, tried once more,nothing..all of a sudden, smoke started rolling out near the pass. side kick panel, then towards the back (battery relocated to back)alot of smoke. After freaking the fk out,and the smoke settled,I noticed the hot wire on the battery was fried from the battery to the firewall.I've checked the grounds but possible I missed something. What the hell did I do?Where should I start? Please refrain from telling me how stupid I am,cause I know...it won't happen again.Any help is greatly appreciated,I realllllly need to get this fixed.
The only thing I see thats burnt is the battery wire I described.I'll keep checking to see if I can see anything else, but quick question, where is the ground that goes on the tranny?
next time make sure you put a fuse for the hot wire within 1 foot of the battery.
did you put a grommet or protect the wire where it goes through the firewall? if not thats probably where your wire shorted out you are lucky your car didn't catch fire.
