Default Suspension Question

I want to know what gives the quality ride in a car, The springs or the shocks cuz a friend of mine its lowering his car but he is only putting coilovers and stay for a while with the stock shocks. Thats cuz we wanna know if the car its gonna ride so hard until we put the new shocks thanks

also depends on how much you are lowering the car..i had my car lowerd like almost 3 inches and busted 3 of my struts so if hes gonna slam it to the ground get aftermarket struts
