accord starting issue
hi and thanks for all that respond to this post. im haveing problems with my 91 honda accord ex 225k miles on it. im trying to figure out why my accord wont turn over even though i got power to the starter. i took the starter out and had it tested at the store and they said it was fine.the starter wont even try to turn the motor over at all. anyone possable know what could b the problem with my car? ive also checks the fuses and they were fine. all the grounds and battry cables are clean 2 could it b a relay sumwhere or sumhthing and thank u for all that respond
Auto or manual, will help in the future.
What does the voltage at the starter tell you? You say the voltage is good but off the car testing says the starter is good? Big cable should have 12v (or close), then as the key is turned to start the smaller one (WHT/BLK ?memory is shot) should also have voltage....bottom line-are you getting the proper voltage to the starter. Sounds like you are not.....if not then we need to figure out why? Battery?

i was getting gud voltage(around 12.3) at the starter solnoide. my battery was replaced 6 months agoo and tested 12.5 and i was getten gud voltage on my little cable (the one that pushes on the starter).i also had power to the big postive cable (comeing from my batter to the starter) around 12.3. my cables were cleaned bc i thought that could b the problem at first and that didnt fix anything. i also checkd with the tester to c if maby the starter wasent grounding rite but that wasent the problem seeing as i use the starter case as the ground and tested againg getten the same results as be4. i was thinking maby the nutral safty switch or maby the ignition what do u think?
If you are getting proper voltage to the starter (both cables) while the key is turned to "start" and the starter doesn't spin....Not that good with 4th gen's but shouldn' be much different than the 3rd and 5th I have.
There are two cables to the starter, your post kind of sounded like three? While someone is trying to start the car, what voltage do you have on both of the cables? If you don't have a "helper", then take a piece of wire and go straight from the Pos (+) of the battery to the small connector on the soleniod, and have the tester on the larger cable...what is the reading.
