How much to fix a rear quarter panel???
I found a '93 DX Hatch for my gf and the rear quarters are rusted thru. i thought i read somewhere that is you take the opposite side's front fender and cut it right it will fit in? is that true or bs? if not how much to just replace them and paint usually? and how much for a water pump? it has 150k miles and is going for $1900 w/ a few other cosmetic probs? so how $$$
2200 was the quote i got for 2 quarters and paint for the whole car.
that was a good price, from a guy i know that does custom rods. some other quotes were even higher

I grew up in Bangor/Orono ME, so I can sympathise with the rust issue. I also now work at a body shop here in MD, and sectioning a fender into a quarter panel probably wouldn't be the best way to solve the rust issue. You'd have to cut so much of the fender away (parklamp notch comes close to wheel opening) that you wouldn't have that much metal left to put on the quarter. That kind of sectioning is a fairly improper way of doing so, as well, you'd probably end up with rust around the area that you sectioned back into the quarter. My advice would be to replace the quarters with OEM skins, probably around a $1600-2000 job to install, paint and blend paint into the doors. As for the H20 pump, if you're mechanically inclined, just check with Steego or Varneys or someone, see who's got the best price, and slap it on in yourself. If not, call some shops and price the job out.
