Icon2 95 Honda civic DX - Sudden Steering loosness Spring in the Rack guide screw has gone?

Hello .. im new to the forum so thank you in advance ....

I have 182,000 miles on my 95 honda civic DX manual Steering .. I drove up to Boston from NY with out a problem , while coming back I pulled in to a rest area and found that my steering felt loose pulling into a space.. before if I turned into a spot I would have to turn the steering wheel 1/4 turn . now I have to turn the steering wheel more 360 degrees ( as if a Gear ratio changed) - wheels still move left and right together.. I have replaced both inner and outer tie rod ends and had just gotten an alignment before my trip and there is no clicking sound or shaking when drive - drove over 100 miles on the highway after this cause I had to get home.

Does anyone think If tightening the Rack guide screw would fix this , I was thinking maybe the spring in the Rack guide screw has gone bad cause of the sudden looseness . is that even possible ...or did my steering rack just crap the bed .... I hope not .. thank you
