Default Need help unmolesting my em1... *PICS*

I will give a brief history of the car to my knowledge
According to carfax:
The vehicle was in two accidents. One 2 years after production, and the next in 2009. All body panel vins match except the front bumper and passenger side front fender. There was also an odometer rollback from "117k" miles back to "16k" miles (possible cluster swap?) I'm assuming I still have the "16k" cluster, which is now at "116k" miles. So my car has roughly 200k miles. The carfax reported no frame damage. I am also the 4th owner.

After buying the car and a close inspection, I noticed some plugs that werent plugged into anything. There are 2 big grey and blue plugs under the intake manifold that plug into nothing. On top of the intake manifold, there is a socket for a plug with nothing in it, and a denso sensor has what looks like an "open" vaccuum connection on the other side.

The vin on the transmission is identicle to the car, but do not know if this is the original b16a2 that came with the car, as I see no indentifyable vins on the block. I am curious as to what the hell the previous owners have swapped and half assed as I would like to "unmolest" this em1 to the best of my ability.
On the for the pics:

The plugs are "dead" plugs, just leave them.

The sensor is the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.

the white plug is iat... I remeber reading it could be in a couple different places, depending what intake manifold is on the car... so look for another one that may be pluged in elsewhere...

Buy a manual. Every time I get a new car the first things I get are a manual and a total tune up kit.
Is the engine in it a B16A?

yes... engine is b16a... it says that on the block. I don't have a manual, but I have already got a timing belt kit as mines really loose and the timing is off a bit.

They are exactly what they imply they are. They don't seem to connect to anything and "dead-end". I'm sure someone can provide a far more detailed description. As was advised-leave them alone.

Get a manual.

If the block simply says B16A the engine has been replaced at some point with a JDM engine. Those 2 dead plugs are supposed to be there and they aren't supposed to be plugged into anything (generally the cap that plugs into them bridges several pins in the plug or all of the pins inside the plug together). That white sensor is an IAT sensor, IIRC Si's had the IAT in the intake arm (should be black sensor with a square black plug) earlier engines had the IAT in one of the runners on the intake manifold. As long as one of them is hooked up don't worry about the other one.

What is funny about the 1st picture is that it shows you for sure do not have the original intake manifold. The last gen of B16A had the air intake temp blocked off there and would read inside the intake tube instead.

The black box beside it is for your cruise, it's a vacuum line.....does your cruise even work?

The white plug is an IAT (intake air temp) sensor. The B16A is a JDM engine. The engine might have blown prior. The JDM cars have a IAT on the intake manifold. USDM 96-00 civics have the IAT in the intake tube. So don't worry about that. Leave that sensor unplugged unless you don't have one in your intake tube.

The plugs under the manifold should just be junction connectors or dead ends.

The black solenoid in your pics is the EVAP solenoid. The empty vacuum tube should attach to a vacuum line that goes into the intake manifold. Since the JDM OBD1 manifolds don't have a spot for the tube to go, you need to get a vacuum T-junction. Tee it into the the PCV valve line.

The date your motor was manufactured will be stamped on your head. Look near the exhaust stud area for a stamp that says a 2 digit date. "95", for example means 1995.

The check engine light should be on for the EVAP being open and the CKF (crank fluctuation sensor) unless they swapped over the USDM oil pump housing and CKF. I told you how to fix the EVAP issue and there's an easy fix for the CKF http://www.ff-squad.com/technet/ckftrick.htm. That should work everywhere but CA.

Maybe the IACV is not plugged in properly. Is there a cat on the car?

There is a cat, but there is some rigged exhaust on it. The car idles fine though... However, the car does idle around 700rpm's once warmed up... idk if that is normal or not... btw, i looked at the head manuf. dates and the first one is 66 or 99 which ever way you look at it and the last says 09 or 90 either way you look at it. Im pretty sure it's a stock head, maybe just a jdm intake manifold? Is there a performance enhancement by going to a jdm intake?

The car should idle around 700 or so RPM when it's warmed up.

The JDM B16 manifold is the same volume and design as the USDM manifold. If the block reads "B16A", then it is absolutely not a USDM block. The USDM blocks all had numbers after the last letter. It would have been B16A2 or B16A3. None of the JDM blocks had numbers after the letter.

Maybe it's an ITR/CTR intake manifold or a skunk2 manifold or something. Do you see a P73 stamp on the manifold anywhere? Take a pic of the manifold...I'll be able to tell you if it's a stock one or not.
