i just got a 98 2.3 accord 5 speed with 89 k miles my friend had the timing belt & water pump and oil drive belt & tensioner replaced about 10 k ago runs great makes a few wierd metally grindy noises first i thought the alt or ac comp was making noise but i removed the accesory belts and still noise is there

also today i just got a vtec code but i cleared it on accident before i wrote it down

any ideas? like i said it runs great tho just makes wierd noises seems to be coming from front of motor but i cant tell do the oil pumps go out ?

 

one noise i know is the tbelt tensioning issue ive heard it on other accords i need to re tension the tbelts but the other noise is like a grindy marble sound was thinking maybe oil pump going bad? no sure

 

Take a screw driver and put your ear on one side and the tip on all metal surfaces around the noisey area. When the sound is at its loudest thats where the noise is being generated. Hope this helps

ya i tried that to no avail ! cant figure it out for all i know it can just be a stupid heat shield on exhaust or cat but i havent got under the car yet but i got that vtec code so i figured maybe a oil issue?

same issue on my 99 5spd. but mine has 180k. i started noticing about 4 months ago took it to a mecanic and he said i needed a ring job, fat chance. not sure if there's a connection but my clutch is going out now. i think my car is just getting old.
