98 V6 chirps like crickets and lights blink dimly
Just bought the car so I expect some issues.
Upon startup it idled fine but the dash and headlights flickered like a bad alternator, but didnt stop when I revved the engine. It did go away after a minute or so. It sounded kind of like a motorcycle whining at idle.
I'm planning on taking it out of town next week and dont wanna get my family stranded on vacation.

I have new terminals waiting to be installed already. The damn shop that did my axle didnt do it like I asked them to. It doesnt "squeal like a slipping belt and still does it while diriving for that first minute or two. I'm new to the j30a so I'm on a learning curve.
Ok, noises are hard to understand and describe in words, video?.....so it "chirps" for the first min or two and then goes away?? How did you rule out the belt, remove them and start the car?
If that makes the noise goes away then the belt or one of the parts driven by the belt (alt bearing, tesioner?, ect) is in play......

clearing old threads I hadnt answered.
Replaced alternator and cleared it up. I also suspect the ELD played a role, but it was CLEARLY the alternator
