Default My day at the dumb dealership

Ok, to all future salesman/women, never let a potential buyer walk out the door!

Took Pops with me to Powersports, here in WPB. Thought I was buying a Ninja ZX-6R in red, but after comparing it side by side with the Gixxer 600 in blue/white, I had to have it.

Ok, so Tim the salesman basically would not go any lower than $6800, not including their bs "freight setup" for an extra $500 But he would throw out the $500 on the Ninja, but by this time I no longer wanted it. Long story short, we gave him our name and # and told him to call if he could do any better.

If he had come to $6600, I would have gave him a check right then. My bet is he will call.

Go check out Deerfield Suzuki man, its on Federal Highway a little bit south of Sample Rd. You can most likely find a GSXR600 there.

do you know how long it takes to setup a bike? Or how much it costs to ship it? You are talking about 2-3 hours to take it out of the crate and about 200 to ship it. We have a flat fee of about 300 bucks for freight and set up, but bikes dont come built and you cant transport them to the dealership in an instant... Just something to think about..

I understand all of that, but I find it BS that he would throw out that fee on the Ninja and not thje Gixxer. Even if I have to pay the same price, no way I am going back to that place, its about principle now. When you add on that $500 fee, plus tax, title, registration, the price jumps

They probably have an incentive to move the Ninja over the GSXR. Maybe the boss or Kawi is paying out extra sales incentives over it.

You usually pay the same tax title reg on a car. Just because a bike costs less the DMV doesnt care.

BDiddy, you are right, during the summer when Im not at UF, I usually go back home and work at a Suzuki Dealership in Orange Park, FL. Shipping usually costs around 200, and certainly does cost for our mechanics to build them.

However, Powersports is known for rock bottom prices. They have the volume and buying power that most shops dont. Therefore, this is the way the look at it. Gixxers are running short now, Dealers (like mine) are running low on Gixxers. Yes, they missed a sale, but in their eyes, Gixxers have a high demand. If he sits on it for another week....he can probably sell it for the 200 more than your offer. So why not? he is going to make 200.

Yes, in the consumers eyes, you should never let a customer walk, but they are probably sitting heavy on the Kawi's.

Prime example on why this works out better for the dealer: We had the last Telefonica movistar edition in north florida. A guy came and offered me a decent cash deal, that we would have normally done on a regular 600. However, the sales manager said, dont do it. So of course, I tried to push him on the blue/white gixxer, he walked. Two hours later, a guy came in......wanting the telefonica more than anything. He got financed, barely, high interest rate, we hit him up full pop, extended warranty, helmet, jacket, gloves. Moral of the story, I made $50 MORE in my own pocket (and **** i only make 5%) off just waiting on a sale, then selling it to the guy who would have paid much less.

Anyways, sorry this is a long post, I hope you find a kick *** deal on a GSXR, however I'm just trying to shed some light on how dealers work
